Fernando Botero – The Presidential Family

</colgroup>

The Presidential Family – Fernando Botero

The Presidential Family is a painting by Fernando Botero: a full-figured family of the powerful with a general, a bishop and a child, posed as if for an official photograph before mountains. We paint our hand-painted study of The Presidential Family to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 60 × 60 cm to 196 × 203 cm or in a custom size. Before The Presidential Family is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.

What does The Presidential Family show?

In The Presidential Family the president in a top hat, his wife in a pink dress with a black fox stole, a grandmother with a little girl on her lap, a general in uniform and a bishop with a crozier stand in front of grey mountains; the painter himself peers out behind them with a brush, and a small dog sits at their feet. With friendly faces and puffed-up figures Botero showed how power, army and church line up together, which is why The Presidential Family feels comic and sharp at once.

How is our hand-painted study of The Presidential Family made?

Our painters paint the study of The Presidential Family by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of The Presidential Family has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When The Presidential Family is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.

Which size of The Presidential Family suits your room?

For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose The Presidential Family in 110 × 110 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 60 × 60 cm. The Presidential Family is available in 60 × 60 cm, 70 × 70 cm, 80 × 80 cm, 90 × 90 cm, 110 × 110 cm, 130 × 140 cm, 170 × 180 cm and 196 × 203 cm. A simple rule for The Presidential Family: it should be about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor.

How does The Presidential Family arrive, and when?

We ship The Presidential Family rolled in a sturdy tube, stretched on 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher bars, or framed – you choose when you order. Stretching and framing of The Presidential Family are done in our workshop in Slovenia. When a size of The Presidential Family is in stock, it reaches you within 6 working days; a study of The Presidential Family painted to order reaches you in 15 to 45 days.

Frequently asked questions about The Presidential Family

Is The Presidential Family a print?

No. Every brushstroke of The Presidential Family is painted by hand on canvas, so the paint visibly stands up from the surface.

Can I order The Presidential Family in a size that is not listed?

Yes. We also paint The Presidential Family in a custom size; enter the width and height you want when you order The Presidential Family.

Who is shown in The Presidential Family?

The Presidential Family shows no real people but typical figures of power: the president, his family, a general and a bishop; at the back on the left Botero painted himself.

Is The Presidential Family a good gift?

The Presidential Family is a gift for a lover of Botero, Latin America or satire. If you are unsure which size of The Presidential Family to choose, give a gift voucher.
