Dark Cross – white slots in a dark mass

The dark brother of Broken Lines: a chocolate-umber field covers about three quarters of the canvas, and the white is cut into it – vertical white panels clustered upper left, diagonal slots upper right, triangles at the centre, a long thin diagonal pair across the lower third, and small wedges at the left middle.

Technique & Texture

The dark mass is not uniform: it is built of a broad vertical trunk across the centre, crossed on the lower half by two horizontal bands – and precisely in that crossing stands the dark cross of the title, implicit yet impossible to miss. This is a hand-painted canvas – the darkness is glossy-mottled, like wet rock.

The Motif

The white openings are angular and sharp: every slot is a deliberate cut, not a remnant. Calligraphy in the moment when dark has defeated light – but left it enough windows for the story to stay taut.

Styling & Placement

A bold decorative painting for offices, modern living rooms and lofts; the dark mass needs a light wall, and against it works like a seal – wall art with graphic weight.
