Edward Hopper – The Long Leg

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The Long Leg – Edward Hopper

The Long Leg is a painting by Edward Hopper: a white sailing boat on a deep-blue sea, with a lighthouse and a low sandy shore behind it. We paint our hand-painted study of The Long Leg to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 9 sizes from 40 × 60 cm to 120 × 170 cm or in a custom size. Before The Long Leg is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.

What does The Long Leg show?

The Long Leg shows a white sailing boat with full sails gliding to the right across the blue sea, while a white lighthouse and a house stand on a low strip of sand under a clear sky. Hopper loved the sea at Cape Cod, where he spent his summers, which is why The Long Leg breathes freshness, wind and the calm of a summer day.

How is our hand-painted study of The Long Leg made?

Our painters paint the study of The Long Leg by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of The Long Leg has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When The Long Leg is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.

Which size of The Long Leg suits your room?

For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose The Long Leg in 70 × 105 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 40 × 60 cm. The Long Leg is available in 40 × 60 cm, 51 × 75 cm, 60 × 90 cm, 70 × 105 cm, 80 × 120 cm, 90 × 130 cm, 100 × 150 cm, 110 × 160 cm and 120 × 170 cm. A simple rule for The Long Leg: it should be about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor.

How does The Long Leg arrive, and when?

We ship The Long Leg rolled in a sturdy tube, stretched on 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher bars, or framed – you choose when you order. Stretching and framing of The Long Leg are done in our workshop in Slovenia. When a size of The Long Leg is in stock, it reaches you within 6 working days; a study of The Long Leg painted to order reaches you in 15 to 45 days.

Frequently asked questions about The Long Leg

Is The Long Leg a print?

No. Every brushstroke of The Long Leg is painted by hand on canvas, so the paint visibly stands up from the surface.

Can I order The Long Leg in a size that is not listed?

Yes. We also paint The Long Leg in a custom size; enter the width and height you want when you order The Long Leg.

Is The Long Leg suitable for a bathroom or a holiday home?

Yes, the blue and white of The Long Leg suit a bathroom, a bedroom or a holiday home by the sea; for the wall above a bed choose 70 × 105 cm or 80 × 120 cm.

Is The Long Leg a good gift?

The Long Leg is a gift for a sailor, a lover of the sea or someone furnishing a holiday home. If you are unsure which size of The Long Leg to choose, give a gift voucher.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
