In the early 90s of the 18th century, Renoir began to paint nude figures, thus heralding a new period in his painting life. His work at that time was strongly influenced by the artists Raphael, Titian and Rubens, whom the painter discovered during his many travels.
Renoir’s nude figures began to take on an increasingly sensual character, and the painter increasingly focused on depicting the effects of natural light.
In this painting, he depicted a naked female figure, which he placed in nature. The figure has its back turned towards the viewer and is partially covered with a scarf.
