The painting Model Facing Front is one of four studies for the larger oil on canvas The Models. In two versions, where the model is painted from the front, the painter devotes himself to the study of this extremely simple pose. Pictured here is the first of these studies; the knees and ankles of the female figure in the painting are pressed together. The effect is static; the painting shows a figure that seems almost prehistoric.
