Oil on canvas Dance At The Moulin De La Galette is one of the most famous impressionist works. In the painting, the author depicted an outdoor scene with a large number of people participating in a popular dance in the garden on the Butte Montmartre hill.
The beams of sunlight in this oil on canvas are characteristic of the Impressionists, but in this painting Renoir particularly looked forward to the possibility of depicting people, and especially women, who form the main part of this oil on canvas. The people depicted in this painting are mostly Renoir’s friends and acquaintances. Before Renoir, no painter had depicted a certain aspect of everyday life on a canvas of such large dimensions.
