Cézanne painted the oil on canvas Woods with Millstone near his home near the town of Aix. The picture shows a scene of natural chaos with human traces in the form of abandoned millstones. Cézanne’s depiction of the interior of nature, which seems like a dark cave with no exit and no view of the horizon, is interesting; a wild romantic city with a hint of melancholy and hopelessness, but at the same time the painter seems to be fascinated by the great disorder of nature.
