The painting Landscape on the Banks of the Seine at Rueil was long owned by the artist’s family and is one of the few paintings that Renoir painted on wood.
Before the painter filled the canvas with short brushstrokes in different directions, he partially covered it with opaque colors: yellow for the area with flowers and growth and white for the area of the sky.
