Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a French impressionist who was born on February 25, 1841 in Limoges. Even as a child, he showed talent and interest in art. As a child, he loved visiting the Louvre, where he studied the works of some of the world’s greatest artists. Later, Pierre A. Renoir enrolled in art school, where he met other great artists. Despite the fact that he already exhibited his paintings at the Salon exhibition in Paris in 1864, the first successes did not come until 10 years later. He got married in 1890 and in the following years had 3 sons, who were later very successful.

Two years after the wedding, Pierre Renoir fell ill and because of the illness he moved to warmer places, to Cagnes-sur-mer on the Mediterranean coast, where he spent the last 20 years of his life. During this time, due to rheumatoid arthritis, he had to change his technique, so the brush was stuck to the palm of his hand due to numb fingers. On December 3, 1919, at the age of 78, he also died in the town of Cagnes-sur-mer.

Renoir was a very creative painter, as he painted several thousand paintings in his lifetime, and his most famous painting is Luncheon of the Boating Party . He created many portraits, especially of girls, young women, swimmers, dancers, wives and pictures of social gatherings, parties, dances, landscapes and still lifes.
