Modigliani depicted Jeanne in several paintings that depict the passionate and tragic relationship between the artist and his muse.
The writer Charles-Albert Cingria described Jeanne as gentle, shy, quiet and delicate, she was the painter’s central muse and also his companion. After Modigliani contracted tuberculosis and died in 1920, a pregnant Jeanne threw herself from the fifth floor just one day later.
