Oil on canvas Breton Girls Dancing, Pont-Aven shows three young girls during a Breton dance. The dancers are painted on the lawn in front of a stone wall, their hands are clasped and create a zig-zag chain that seemingly compresses their group even more into a small space. This effect is further emphasized by the strong color contrasts in the painting – the dark clothes of the girls with white collars, the glowing poppy flowers on the aprons and the green color of the freshly cut grass.
