In the artist’s most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, we see dots of pure color applied side by side with mathematical precision, which then come to life in the right shades in the human eye. 
 
Seurat created the oil on canvas for two years, paying close attention to the landscape of the park. This is the artist’s epic depiction of Parisians caught in a moment of relaxation on the banks of the Seine.
