Question 1

Which are Kandinsky’s most famous paintings?

Accepted Answer

The paintings named most often are Composition VII (1913), Composition VIII (1923), Yellow-Red-Blue (1925) and Several Circles (1926), together with the earlier Compositions IV to VI and the Improvisations. All of them are available in our gallery as hand-painted paintings in oil or acrylic.

Question 2

What do Kandinsky’s paintings mean?

Accepted Answer

They do not tell a story; they work like music. Kandinsky believed that colours and forms act directly on the soul, so a yellow can feel loud and sharp and a deep blue calm and spiritual. The meaning is the feeling a painting creates in you, which is why the same Composition can read differently to different viewers.

Question 3

Why did Kandinsky paint abstract?

Accepted Answer

He wanted painting to be as free from objects as music is from words. Around 1910 he gradually removed recognisable motifs, convinced that pure colour and form could express inner experience more directly. That is why he is considered one of the first painters of abstract art.

Question 4

How are colour and music connected in Kandinsky’s work?

Accepted Answer

Very closely: in Concerning the Spiritual in Art he wrote that colour is the keyboard, the eye the hammer and the soul the piano with many strings. He named his works Impressions, Improvisations and Compositions after musical terms and built them the way a composer builds a symphony.

Question 5

Why did Kandinsky paint circles?

Accepted Answer

For Kandinsky the circle was the calmest and most complete form; he described it as the synthesis of the greatest oppositions. From the mid-1920s, in paintings such as Several Circles, circles became his favourite way of letting colours resonate against each other.

Question 6

Can you buy an original Kandinsky, and what does a copy cost?

Accepted Answer

Original Kandinsky paintings are almost all in museums, and the rare ones that come to auction sell for tens of millions. A hand-painted copy in oil or acrylic on canvas from SvetSlik.si starts at 108 €, and the price depends on the size you choose. It is a real painting, not a print.

Question 7

Which size should I choose?

Accepted Answer

Measure the furniture below the wall and choose a painting about two thirds of its width: above a three-seater sofa that is usually 120 to 160 cm, above a desk or in a hallway 50 to 70 cm. Every product page lists the available sizes with their prices, and if none fits, we paint your own measurements.

Question 8

How long does delivery take, and can I order a custom size?

Accepted Answer

Each painting is painted to order, so delivery takes 15 to 45 days, depending on the size. A custom size is possible for every painting: send us the width and height and we paint the canvas to your measurements. Before dispatch you receive a photograph of the finished painting.
