“People will get used to it, perhaps, but I came too early.”
Claude Monet
Claude Monet (1840–1926) was the French painter whose canvas Impression, Sunrise gave Impressionism its name. He painted out of doors, chasing the way light changes colour from hour to hour, and returned to the same subject again and again: haystacks, cathedrals, the Thames, and above all the water lilies of his own garden at Giverny.
Which Monet paintings can you order here?
We carry 90 of Monet’s best-known subjects, each one painted by hand on canvas by a painter, in oil or acrylic depending on the work, for your order. These are not prints and not photographic copies: you get a real painting, with the texture of the brushstroke you can see and feel.
Woman with a Parasol
The most requested subject on this page is Woman with a Parasol. Monet painted his wife Camille on a windy rise, seen from below against the sky, her dress and veil carried by the wind. It puts movement into a wall, and it suits a hallway or a stairwell where you see it in passing.
The most-loved Monet paintings
The painting that named a movement is Impression, Sunrise. From the garden at Giverny come Water Lilies and The Water Lily Pond (Japanese Bridge), with the green bridge over the pond. Monet’s wife Camille on a windy hill is Woman with a Parasol, and a summer field of red flowers is Poppies near Argenteuil.
For a room that needs one strong subject, the series work well: Rouen Cathedral, the Portal from the Front, Stacks of Wheat (End of Day, Autumn) and London, the Houses of Parliament in the Fog, each painted in one particular light. The steam and iron of a Paris railway station is The Gare Saint-Lazare.
New in the gallery
Seven paintings joined the gallery in October 2026, chosen because they are the Monet works people search for most that we did not yet paint: The Magpie, a black bird on a gate in a snow-covered field; The Artist’s Garden at Giverny, with its rows of purple irises; San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk, Venice against a burning sky; Woman in the Garden and Springtime, two women in sunlit gardens; Luncheon on the Grass, a picnic in the forest; and Bathers at La Grenouillère, boats and swimmers on the Seine.
Which size for which room?
Above a sofa or a sideboard, choose a painting about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it: for a three-seater sofa that usually means a width of 100 to 150 cm. In a bedroom above the bed, a calm subject such as the water lilies or the Seine at 90 to 120 cm works well. In a hallway, on a narrow wall or above a desk, 50 to 70 cm is enough; a figure such as Woman with a Parasol suits a stairwell, where you see it in passing. More paintings in shades of blue are among our blue paintings.
Hang the painting so that its centre sits about 150 cm above the floor; above a sofa, leave 20 to 30 cm between the back of the sofa and the lower edge of the canvas. Large landscapes by Monet hold up very well in big formats, because his brushwork was made to be seen from a distance.
Hand-painted on canvas, in oil or acrylic
Every canvas is painted by hand in oil or acrylic depending on the work, stroke by stroke, following the original. Monet’s colour lives in short, separate strokes laid side by side, and that is exactly what a print flattens. Before dispatch we send you a photograph of the finished painting; if you would like a change, we make it before dispatch. Because each copy is painted by hand, individual strokes and tones differ slightly from one to the next — that is the difference between a painting and a print.
Custom sizes, stretcher and frame
Monet paintings in our gallery are available in 177 sizes, from 29 x 22 to 394 x 238 cm, and prices start at 108 EUR. If you need a measurement that is not listed, send us the width and height and we will paint it to order. You can have the painting rolled, stretched on a wooden stretcher with painted edges (so it can hang without a frame), or framed. You can choose a frame in our 3D application, where you see the painting in different frames; to see it on your own wall, use our visualization service.
How do you order?
Choose the painting, then the size and, if you like, the frame. A painter paints it specifically for you, so it takes a few weeks. We ship to the United Kingdom, Ireland and across the EU, wrapped in protective film and packed in a rigid box. If the painting is a gift and you are unsure of the size, there is a wall art voucher: the recipient chooses the size and the subject.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a hand-painted Monet reproduction cost?
The price depends on the size: our Monet paintings start at 108 EUR for the smallest formats and rise with the size of the canvas. Every product page lists the price of each size, and for a size that is not listed we send you a quote.
Is this a print or a real painting?
A real painting. A painter copies the work by hand on canvas, in oil or acrylic depending on the work, so you can see and feel the brushstrokes. It is not a print, not a canvas print and not a photographic copy.
Which are Monet’s most famous paintings?
Impression, Sunrise, the Water Lilies and the Japanese bridge at Giverny, Woman with a Parasol, the Rouen Cathedral and Haystacks series, the London views of Parliament and Waterloo Bridge, and Poppies near Argenteuil. All of them are in our gallery.
Can you buy an original Monet?
Very rarely. Almost all of his paintings are in museums, and the few that come to auction sell for tens of millions: one of Monet’s Haystacks paintings sold at Sotheby’s in May 2019 for 110.7 million dollars. A hand-painted copy is the way to have the work on your own wall.
Does the painting come framed?
As you choose: rolled, stretched on a wooden stretcher with painted edges and ready to hang, or framed. You choose the frame in our 3D application, where you see the painting in different frames before you order.
How long does delivery take?
Each painting is made to order, so it takes a few weeks from your order to delivery. Before dispatch we send you a photograph of the finished work for approval.
