Description
Golden Sweep – The Moment Between Stillness and Flight
This abstract painting in a distinctly elongated format unites stormy opposites: a calm lavender ground is cut by an eruption of gold-ochre strokes that take off diagonally across the canvas. The painting’s energy is that of a launch – as if catching the moment just before flight.
Technique & Texture
The gold-ochre strokes are applied with a palette knife, and wedged between them are sharp shards of white impasto; the ground is softly blurred. It is a hand-painted artistic painting, in which the densest collision of gold and white – just below the canvas midpoint – arose from the artist’s sweep, not from calculation.
The Motif
Cobalt-blue accents and white spatter circle the golden diagonal and heighten the sense of upward movement. Along the lower edge the gold settles into pools – there, where the take-off began.
Styling & Placement
Excellent for tall walls and spaces with a modern or industrial character – staircases, hallways, double-height living spaces, where the upright format truly comes alive.
