Paintings for the living room – hand-painted, in the size you choose

Modern and abstract paintings for the living room, painted by hand with a brush on canvas – never a print. For every painting you choose the size, from small formats for a shelf to large paintings above the sofa, and receive it ready to hang or as a rolled canvas.

What size painting above a sofa or sideboard

A good rule: the painting (or group of paintings) should be about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it. Above a 200 cm sofa that is around 130 cm – for example a 120 x 80 cm, 150 x 100 cm or a long 120 x 60 cm painting. Above a 120 cm sideboard choose a painting about 80 cm wide, such as 80 x 80 cm or 90 x 60 cm. Hang the bottom edge 15–25 cm above the back of the sofa, with the centre of the painting at eye level, about 145–155 cm from the floor.

On an empty wall, leave about a third of the surface free at the sides. A wide wall suits one large painting; a long, low wall suits a multi-panel painting or two to three paintings hung 5–10 cm apart.

Colours and the style of the room

Let one or two colours from the room – the sofa, cushions or rug – appear in the painting. In a neutral, light living room a bold abstract painting can become the focal point; in a colourful room choose a calmer painting that settles the space. Modern interiors are well matched by abstract and modern paintings, while a landscape creates a quieter mood. Mind the light too: warm light warms the colours, cool daylight cools them.

Rolled canvas, on a stretcher or framed

When ordering you choose the form: rolled canvas (the cheapest delivery; you stretch it yourself or at a framer), a painting stretched on a wooden stretcher and ready to hang, or – on paintings that offer it – a framed painting with the frame you pick. The choice is on each painting’s page and the price updates at once.

Delivery and shipping cost

A painting in stock arrives within 6 working days; a painting we paint to order arrives within 15–45 working days of order confirmation. To Croatia, Italy, Austria and Hungary shipping costs €6 for a rolled canvas, €15 for a painting on a stretcher and €20 for a multi-panel or framed painting; to Germany and ten more EU countries a rolled canvas costs €8. Within Slovenia shipping starts at €2. All prices are in the shipping policy, and the exact amount is shown in the cart before you pay.

Dust it with a dry, soft cloth. Do not hang it in direct sunlight, above a radiator or on a damp wall.
