Golden Rings – jewellery over a strict rhythm
Three heavy gold impasto rings, laid over a black field of hand-drawn silver-white verticals – jewellery-box opulence over a strict graphic rhythm: each ring is built of thick concentric coiled rope of paint, almost three-dimensional.
Technique & Texture
One ring is cut by the left edge and shows only its right half, the largest complete ring sits upper right of centre, the third lower left of centre. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the interiors of the rings open onto the striped ground, and their edges are real relief.
The Motif
The ground is matte black with vertical silver-white lines, hand-drawn and slightly wavering, running the full height and denser to the right of the rings. A trio of white, black and gold: here the artist is jeweller and painter at once.
