Success – a flash across indigo depth
Wall art raises a broad pale form out of an indigo and copper ground and opens it in every direction, its centre the brightest point on the canvas: modern painting in which light appears to be coming through the dark rather than sitting on top of it. What lies behind is densely worked, with layers, incised signs and organic traces.
Technique and texture
The pale form is the thickest paint in the piece — thrown on with a spatula and standing several millimetres proud in places. The backing is the opposite, built in thin translucent layers that break through one another and give the depth. Fine incisions run over the whole surface and only appear from close to.
The motif
The form spreads on the diagonal with three longer arms reaching toward the edges and a dense, cracked middle. Around it the ground darkens to blue-black. The bottom third is the darkest passage and it anchors the composition firmly.

A palette this dark needs either a bright room or a dark wall that will take it. It suits a living room, a study, or a space with dark furniture.

Success is a square painting in 14 sizes, from 40 x 40 to 180 x 180 cm. Its dark indigo and copper ground wants either a bright room or a dark wall. Above a 240 cm corner sofa choose 160 x 160 cm, over a 180 cm dark sideboard 120 x 120 cm, and above a 130 cm desk in a study 90 x 90 cm – each about two thirds of the furniture’s width. In a foyer, Success fits at 70 x 70 cm.
The pale central form of Success stands several millimetres proud of the canvas in places, because it is hand-painted with a spatula and is not a print. Fine incised traces run across the whole surface and only show from close up. Because every layer is laid by hand, the form differs a little from one canvas to the next. Before we send Success, you receive a photograph of it to approve.
Rolled, stretched or framed?
We ship Success the way you choose: rolled, stretched on a wooden stretcher bar, or framed. Our workshop in Slovenia takes care of the stretching and framing. With YES under Stretcher, Success goes on the wall as soon as it arrives; rolled is worth it when a framer near you will frame it. Pick a frame in the Frame menu; a dark or warm copper-toned frame brings out the depth of the ground.
How should I hang and care for it?
Put the centre of the painting at eye level, about 150 cm from the floor; above a desk or a chest of drawers, leave 20 to 30 cm to the bottom edge. Because the palette is dark, the painting needs enough light: a wall or ceiling light that falls on the pale form brings out its full effect. Clean the thick paint only gently with a soft dry brush, without water or cleaners.
Is Success a good gift?
