Green and Graphite – three zones of fresh plaster
A wall abstraction in three zones: the upper seventy percent of the canvas is white-grey plaster smoothed with the knife, with cracks and patches; beneath it runs a straight mid-grey horizontal band, and the lower third is covered by a dense green field in tones of moss and sage.
Technique & Texture
The green is laid with the knife and combed through with lighter dry sweeps, while the white wall above it is furrowed and patched. This is a hand-painted work of art – the cracks and patches are not a printed pattern but real layers of material.
The Motif
Two accents balance the composition: on the left edge, in the upper area, sits a smaller green rectangle, half grown over into the white, and from the upper right corner a dark graphite-grey block descends to a good third of the height, with white eroded streaks inside it. The mid-grey line between the wall and the green acts as a horizon.
