Gold in Grey – a geological cross-section with two golden veins
An upright geological cross-section in greys with two golden veins of different characters: a thin, precise gold line runs the full width at a good quarter of the height, while a broad, molten gold band lies mid-canvas – irregular, heavy relief between dark seams.
Technique & Texture
The layers stack like rock strata: a smooth light-grey field on top, a cracked silver-white crust beneath the thin line, a second cracked grey layer with black veins beneath the broad band. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – each layer has its own thickness and its own relief.
The Motif
The broad gold band is offset: the left mass sits higher, the right strip lower, which gives the cross-section a tectonic tension. At the bottom, the canvas is closed by an almost black textured base with barely visible white horizontal scratches – the foundation on which all the layers rest.
