Blue Cross – two lines that lack nothing
Less than this is not possible: two textured electric-blue lines cross on rough white plaster and form a bare, slightly shifted cross. The vertical enters at the top edge at half the width and stops before it reaches the bottom; the horizontal runs almost the full width and slopes gently down to the right.
Technique & Texture
Both lines have crumbly edges, laid into the grain of the plaster, which eats at their borders up close. This is a hand-painted work of art – the ground is heavy, rough plaster with a dense knife grain and warmer patches at the lower left.
The Motif
They cross a little below half height, at the middle of the width – but the tilt of the horizontal and the vertical that never arrives take the severity from the cross and give it life. It is precisely this small imperfection that is the whole content of the painting.
