Description
Stories I is a more open, brighter version of the same series — white and turquoise predominate, while brown frames form an arrangement reminiscent of an architectural floor plan or a city map seen from a bird’s-eye view. A red vertical element in the lower third acts as an accent that anchors the whole and prevents the composition from dissolving into pure abstraction. The relief surface is noticeable in the white mass applied with a palette knife — light spreads across this sculptural surface and gives the painting dynamism depending on the angle of illumination. Earthy and cool colours meet in this painting in a balance that is neither warm nor cold, but somewhere in between — calm and open. A modern painting on canvas that works well in a modern interior with white or light-coloured walls.
