Description
Pillars of Light – When Light Rises from the Darkness
On a square canvas unfolds a nocturnal, almost cosmic atmosphere, pierced by two vertical pillars of light. From a deep violet-blue base, which darkens toward plum black at the upper right and lower left, rise two luminous eruptions – like a geyser of light or northern lights breaking through the dark. The painting is dramatic yet never aggressive: lavender and pink tones preserve its lyricism.
Technique & Texture
The work is built in layers, wet-in-wet, with dry brushstrokes and a rich spatter of orange, white, and magenta droplets that give the impression of sparks. Vertical runs of paint flow down the canvas, densest in the right pillar, while the luminous cores stand out in moderate impasto with tangible ridges of paint. And it is exactly this liveliness that proves the handwork – this is a hand-painted artistic painting, in which both eruptions arose from the artist’s hand in a single unrepeatable motion that no print can ever reproduce.
The Motif
Left of centre flares a white and cream-pink burst with a peach core – the brightest, most explosive point of the painting. On the right, a taller pillar of peach and lilac light rises from the ground toward the top, threaded with orange spatter and long white runs. Between them lies a dark violet-blue valley, an emptiness from which both pillars of light emerge – which is why the eye reads them as eruptions from the depths.
Styling & Placement
Thanks to its dramatic presence, the painting is an ideal visual centrepiece for a room. It works excellently in contemporary living rooms, hotel lobbies, or business spaces with neutral walls, where its dark tones and bursts of light come into their fullest expression. Pair it with dark or wooden furniture and neutral textiles.
