Technique & Texture
The tenderness has its counterplayers: on the right sits a large black textured mass like a crow, from which a thin dark branch rises to the top edge, a dark grey wedge cuts the left middle, a dark trapezoid pedestal anchors the lower centre, and a black blot crouches in the lower left corner. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – every volume carries its own texture.
The Motif
Olive-green stripes mark the left side and an olive arc the lower right; two tiny pink dots on the right and pink scribbles at the lower left hold the palette together. Tender and bold share the canvas in surprising harmony.
