Description
Green Sun – a yellow core in a green vortex
Wall art whirls a broad green vortex around a yellow core set to the left of centre, darkening toward the edges until the green is almost black: painting on canvas made with one circular gesture repeated in ever wider orbits.
Technique and texture
That gesture is the whole technique: the same turn repeated outward, which is why the furrows run parallel and never cross one another. The yellow core carries the thickest paint on the canvas and was swirled into a tight spiral. Toward the edges the brush was dragged drier, so the weave of the canvas shows through in patches.
The motif
Because the core is not at the middle of the canvas, the vortex is not symmetrical — the orbits are narrower on the left and wider and more drawn out on the right. Thin brown and orange traces break through between the green rings, left over from a layer beneath. A darker core in the lower right acts as the opposite of the bright one and holds the balance.
Setting and placement
Green is carrying everything here and will set the tone of the room, so it does best beside neutral furniture. Movement on this scale suits a long wall, and a hallway where people pass it at walking speed gets the most out of the turning.
