Edward Hopper – New York Movie
New York Movie – Edward Hopper
New York Movie is a painting by Edward Hopper: a thoughtful blonde usherette in a blue uniform stands by the wall of a cinema while the audience watches the film. We paint our hand-painted study of New York Movie to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 9 sizes from 40 × 50 cm to 120 × 150 cm or in a custom size. Before New York Movie is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.
What does New York Movie show?
In New York Movie viewers sit in the dark hall on the left in front of part of the screen, a gold column divides the middle, and on the right, under three red wall lamps beside a staircase with a red curtain, a young usherette stands with her hand at her chin, lost in thought. Hopper liked to paint people alone in the middle of a crowd, which is why New York Movie feels quiet, warm and melancholy.
How is our hand-painted study of New York Movie made?
Our painters paint the study of New York Movie by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of New York Movie has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When New York Movie is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.
