In the video on this page (0:38) a hand with a tool reaches into the dense web of white, yellow, red and black poured lines several times in the opening close-ups, then the canvas of Convergence is seen from the side with its layers and edge, then the painting stands in a black frame among frame samples, and the last shots stay close on the thick, raised lines of paint.
Convergence – Jackson Pollock
Convergence is a 1952 abstract painting by Jackson Pollock: a huge web of white, yellow, orange, red and black trails of paint across a long canvas. We paint our hand-painted study of Convergence to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 90 × 50 cm to 394 × 238 cm or in a custom size. Before Convergence is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.
What does Convergence show?
In Convergence thick white and yellow loops, orange and red arcs and thin black nets cross the whole long canvas so densely that the eye finds no resting point, and in places the paint stands up in raised drops. Pollock laid the canvas on the floor and poured and dripped paint onto it from every side, which is why Convergence feels fierce, loud and full of energy.
How is our hand-painted study of Convergence made?
Our painters paint the study of Convergence by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of Convergence has a real paint texture that a print does not have. The first, second and third photographs show our finished study of Convergence on the easel from the front and at an angle, the fourth photograph shows it from the side with the canvas edge, the fifth and sixth photographs show it in a black frame among frame samples, the seventh shows the edge of the black frame up close, and the eighth photograph shows the raised, hand-applied lines of paint up close. When Convergence is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.
Which size of Convergence suits your room?
For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose Convergence in 120 × 70 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 90 × 50 cm. Convergence is available in 90 × 50 cm, 120 × 70 cm, 150 × 90 cm, 200 × 120 cm, 250 × 150 cm, 300 × 180 cm, 350 × 210 cm and 394 × 238 cm. The 394 × 238 cm size is almost the size of the original: the original of Convergence measures 393.7 × 237.7 cm, so our painting is 3 mm longer on both sides. A simple rule for Convergence: it should be about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor.
How does Convergence arrive, and when?
We ship Convergence rolled in a sturdy tube, stretched on 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher bars, or framed – you choose when you order. Stretching and framing of Convergence are done in our workshop in Slovenia. When a size of Convergence is in stock, it reaches you within 6 working days; a study of Convergence painted to order reaches you in 15 to 45 days.
