Description
Jesus: a tall upright canvas for narrow walls
The painting shows Jesus in a white hooded mantle, holding a shepherd’s crook, against a blue sky with evening light over dark hills. The Jesus painting comes in 4 upright sizes, from 25 x 50 to 60 x 120 cm. For a prayer corner or a narrow wall beside a wardrobe, choose 25 x 50 or 40 x 80 cm. Above a 90 cm chest of drawers, choose 60 x 120 cm, about two thirds as wide as the chest. In a hallway or by the stairs, 50 x 100 cm gives the figure of Jesus real height.
Pick YES under Stretcher and the Jesus canvas arrives stretched on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang. A frame is optional: for the Jesus painting the Frame menu starts at “Without frame”. Delivery takes 15–45 days. The Jesus painting is hand-painted with a brush on canvas, so it is not a print.
What does the Jesus painting show?
The Jesus painting shows Jesus in a white hooded mantle, holding a shepherd’s crook, against a blue sky and evening light over dark hills. The crook recalls the parable of the Good Shepherd, who knows his sheep and leads them, so the Jesus painting is an image of protection and peace rather than suffering. The white mantle and the warm evening light give the scene a gentleness that suits a bedroom or a child’s room.
Where does the Jesus painting belong in a home?
The narrow, tall format of the Jesus painting belongs on the wall beside a wardrobe, in a hallway, by the stairs, above a bed or in a prayer corner. Keep the centre of the Jesus painting at eye level, about 150 cm from the floor; beside a bed or in a child’s room you can hang it a little lower. Above a chest of drawers, let the bottom edge sit 20 to 30 cm over the top. The blue sky goes well with white and pale blue walls.
How is the Jesus painting made?
The Jesus painting is hand-painted by our painters. They paint the blue sky with its evening light and the dark hills first, then the figure in the white mantle, the face and the shepherd’s crook, building the folds of the mantle with the brush in several layers. Because it is all painted by hand, the strokes show and every Jesus painting comes out a little different. We photograph the finished Jesus painting and send you the photograph; it ships after you approve.
Rolled, stretched or framed?
We ship the Jesus painting the way you choose: rolled, stretched on a 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher, or framed. In our workshop in Slovenia we stretch the Jesus painting and frame it on request. Stretched, it arrives ready to hang; rolled makes sense when a framer near you will frame the Jesus painting. A light or gold frame suits the white mantle and the evening light.
Is the Jesus painting a good gift?
The Jesus painting is a lovely gift for a baptism, a first communion, a confirmation or a young family, because the image of the Good Shepherd speaks of protection. The 25 x 50 cm size fits above a cot or on a narrow wall. If you are not sure which size would suit, give a gift voucher so the recipient can choose.
