What does First Lady on Horseback show?
In First Lady on Horseback a round lady with dark hair pinned up sits on a dark brown horse in a low-cut pink dress, white gloves and an orange sash with a rosette across her chest; she holds a thin riding crop, and large green banana leaves rise behind her. Botero painted it as the companion to The President, which is why First Lady on Horseback feels solemn, satirical and friendly at once.
How is our hand-painted study of First Lady on Horseback made?
Our painters paint the study of First Lady on Horseback by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of First Lady on Horseback has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When First Lady on Horseback is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.
