The Dance (second version) – Henri Matisse
The Dance (second version) is a painting by Henri Matisse from 1910: five red nude dancers hold hands in a ring on a green hill under a deep blue sky. We paint our hand-painted study of The Dance (second version) to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 70 × 50 cm to 391 × 260 cm or in a custom size. Before The Dance (second version) is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.
What does The Dance (second version) show?
The Dance (second version) has only three colours, red, green and blue, yet they hold all the movement: the bodies lean, stretch and pull the ring onward, and between the two dancers in front it almost breaks. Matisse painted it for the Russian collector Sergei Shchukin, for the staircase of his house in Moscow, together with the painting Music. The original, about 2.6 × 3.9 metres, is now in the Hermitage in St Petersburg, and The Dance (second version) is a key work of Fauvism.
How is our hand-painted study of The Dance (second version) made?
Our painters paint the study of The Dance (second version) by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of The Dance (second version) has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When The Dance (second version) is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.
Which size of The Dance (second version) suits your room?
For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose The Dance (second version) in 120 × 80 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 70 × 50 cm.
