Harlequin’s Carnival – Joan Miró
Harlequin’s Carnival is a 1924–1925 painting by Joan Miró: a pink-grey room full of tiny dancing, flying and playing creatures, instruments and signs. We paint our hand-painted study of Harlequin’s Carnival to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 40 × 30 cm to 150 × 100 cm or in a custom size. Before Harlequin’s Carnival is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.
What does Harlequin’s Carnival show?
In Harlequin’s Carnival a crowd of creatures fills a pink-brown room with a blue window at the top right: a harlequin with a moustache and a guitar, fish, cats, birds, a ladder, snakes and musical notes, all linked by wavy lines and small dots. Miró painted it in Paris when he was hungry and poor and filled it with dream images, which is why Harlequin’s Carnival feels playful, noisy and like a fairy tale.
How is our hand-painted study of Harlequin’s Carnival made?
Our painters paint the study of Harlequin’s Carnival by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of Harlequin’s Carnival has a real paint texture that a print does not have. The first photograph shows our finished study of Harlequin’s Carnival lying on the table with a frame corner on it while we choose the frame, and the second photograph shows the same painting in its rose-gold frame. When Harlequin’s Carnival is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.
Which size of Harlequin’s Carnival suits your room?
For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose Harlequin’s Carnival in 120 × 80 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 40 × 30 cm. Harlequin’s Carnival is available in 40 × 30 cm, 50 × 40 cm, 60 × 40 cm, 70 × 50 cm, 80 × 60 cm, 93 × 66 cm, 120 × 80 cm and 150 × 100 cm. The 93 × 66 cm size of Harlequin’s Carnival is the size of the original. A simple rule for Harlequin’s Carnival: it should be about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor.
How does Harlequin’s Carnival arrive, and when?
We ship Harlequin’s Carnival rolled in a sturdy tube, stretched on 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher bars, or framed – you choose when you order. Stretching and framing of Harlequin’s Carnival are done in our workshop in Slovenia. When a size of Harlequin’s Carnival is in stock, it reaches you within 6 working days; a study of Harlequin’s Carnival painted to order reaches you in 15 to 45 days.
