Nude – Pablo Picasso
Nude is a 1909 painting by Pablo Picasso, held by the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg: a seated nude woman built from the planes of early Cubism. What does Nude show?
Nude shows a seated nude woman with her head tilted to one side and a hand behind her neck, her body broken into sharp planes of ochre, brown and grey. The background is grey-blue, with rays of light on the right. In 1909 Picasso began to take the body apart into geometric planes, which is why Nude shows the very beginning of Cubism.
How is our hand-painted study of Nude made?
Our painters paint the study of Nude by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of Nude has a real paint texture that a print does not have. The first photograph shows how Nude looks on a wall above a dining table, and the second photograph shows our study framed among frame samples.
