Our version is not a print. If the visible difference lies precisely in the stroke – in how it is laid on and how light it is – then that is also what print cannot carry: the screen has a regular structure of its own and lays it over the painter’s. A hand-painted canvas leaves the direction, the length and the weight of every stroke as it was made.

The format is landscape and the scene is open and light, so the work does well where there is enough daylight: by a window, in a dining room, in a bright hallway, or above a desk. Because the ladder of sizes runs low, this is one of the few subjects on this shelf that can be hung very small as well: 50 x 40 cm is enough beside a desk, 74 x 59 cm is the size of the original, and 120 x 100 cm carries a whole wall.
