Canyon Crossing – Diego Rivera
Canyon Crossing is a painting after Diego Rivera’s 1930–1931 fresco in the Cortés Palace in Cuernavaca, Mexico: indigenous porters and Spanish soldiers crossing a ravine. We paint our hand-painted study of Canyon Crossing to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 150 × 120 cm to 524 × 435 cm or in a custom size. Before Canyon Crossing is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.
What does Canyon Crossing show?
In Canyon Crossing indigenous men bend under their loads in the middle of a dense green jungle and haul a tree trunk across the ravine with ropes, Spanish soldiers in armour with lances keep watch behind them, and a dog crawls at the lower right. On the wall of the Cortés Palace Rivera told how Spain took Mexico, seen from the side of the workers who carried it on their backs, which is why Canyon Crossing feels strong, lively and full of story.
How is our hand-painted study of Canyon Crossing made?
Our painters paint the study of Canyon Crossing by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of Canyon Crossing has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When Canyon Crossing is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.
Which size of Canyon Crossing suits your room?
For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose Canyon Crossing in 180 × 150 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 150 × 120 cm. Canyon Crossing is available in 150 × 120 cm, 180 × 150 cm, 200 × 170 cm, 250 × 210 cm, 300 × 250 cm, 350 × 290 cm, 400 × 330 cm and 524 × 435 cm. A simple rule for Canyon Crossing: it should be about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor.
How does Canyon Crossing arrive, and when?
