Flower Festival – Diego Rivera
Flower Festival is a painting by Diego Rivera from 1925: a kneeling man carries a huge bundle of white calla lilies on his back, with two women in white blouses and long braids sitting in front of him. We paint our hand-painted study of Flower Festival to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 50 × 60 cm to 160 × 190 cm or in a custom size. Before Flower Festival is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.
What does Flower Festival show?
In Flower Festival the shapes are simple and rounded like sculpture: the white lilies above form a bright crown, while red clothing, green stems and dark hair are arranged symmetrically, almost like an altar. The painting shows the Feast of Santa Anita in Mexico, when boats and streets were decorated with flowers. The original Flower Festival is in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
How is our hand-painted study of Flower Festival made?
Our painters paint the study of Flower Festival by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of Flower Festival has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When Flower Festival is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.
Which size of Flower Festival suits your room?
For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose Flower Festival in 90 × 110 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 50 × 60 cm. Flower Festival is available in 50 × 60 cm, 60 × 70 cm, 80 × 100 cm, 90 × 110 cm, 100 × 120 cm, 121 × 147 cm, 140 × 170 cm and 160 × 190 cm. A simple rule for Flower Festival: it should be about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor.
How does Flower Festival arrive, and when?
We ship Flower Festival rolled in a sturdy tube, stretched on 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher bars, or framed – you choose when you order. Stretching and framing of Flower Festival are done in our workshop in Slovenia. When a size of Flower Festival is in stock, it reaches you within 6 working days; a study of Flower Festival painted to order reaches you in 15 to 45 days.
