Egon Schiele – hand-painted reproductions on canvas

Egon Schiele (1890–1918) is, after Gustav Klimt, the most sought-after Austrian painter and a central figure of Expressionism. You recognise his paintings at a glance: the sharp, nervous line, the emphatic hands, earth tones with sudden accents of red. This category collects his best-known motifs as hand-painted reproductions on canvas – our painter works in oil, with a stroke and a line no print can reproduce. Prices in this category start at 131 EUR. His life story, from Tulln to Vienna, is told in the Egon Schiele biography.

    The Schiele motifs we offer

The forty-two works include self-portraits, expressive portraits and landscapes. The portraits of Wally Neuzil, Edith Schiele, Trude Engel and Paris von Gütersloh rank among the high points of Expressionist portrait painting. The landscapes and townscapes – Four Trees, Town among Greenery, the House Walls – carry the same language over to trees and houses: a house and a tree carry the same tension as one of his sitters. Every reproduction is painted from the original, in the size you choose.

Why Schiele paintings suit a modern interior

Schiele’s expressionism is strikingly contemporary: clean lines and a restrained palette sit well with minimalist and industrial interiors. A landscape such as Four Trees calms a living room with its rhythm; a self-portrait or an expressive portrait gives a study or a home office character and a talking point. The earth tones – ochre, brown, muted green – meet wood and natural materials halfway.

A hand-painted reproduction – the difference you can see

A print on canvas is smooth and flat; a hand-painted reproduction carries the layering of the paint, the trace of the brush and exactly the line Schiele is famous for. Our painter paints each canvas separately, so every reproduction has its own texture and character. Before delivery you receive a photograph of the painting for approval, and the canvas arrives stretched on a frame, ready to hang. On request we adjust it (colours, details) and ship only once you approve.

    How ordering works

Choose the motif and the size, and add a frame if you wish – the frame itself is shown in the 3D viewer on the product page, while seeing the painting on your own wall is a separate visualisation service. If you want a Schiele motif that is not on this shelf, we will paint it to order, in the size and technique we agree.

    Who was Egon Schiele?

An Austrian painter who, in barely a decade of work, set the benchmark for the Expressionist portrait. On this page you meet him through the motifs we paint on canvas; the full biography is in our article on Schiele.

    Are these originals or reproductions?

Every painting in this category is a hand-painted reproduction of Schiele’s work – the originals hang in museums, most of them at the Leopold Museum in Vienna. Each of our paintings is a unique piece of handwork, not a print.

Which Schiele work should you choose for your home?

Landscapes such as Four Trees are calm and sit well in a living room; the expressive portraits give a room its character. The 3D viewer, which shows the frame itself, helps you choose it.

What sizes are the paintings available in?

We paint every reproduction in the size you choose – the smallest painting in this category measures 40 × 29 cm and the largest 200 × 210 cm.
