Plate (Mural) – Jackson Pollock
Plate is a painting by Jackson Pollock from 1943, better known as Mural: along a band more than six metres long, rhythmic black figures dance among yellow, pink, blue-green and white. We paint our hand-painted study of Plate (Mural) to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 130 × 50 cm to 605 × 247 cm or in a custom size. Before Plate (Mural) is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.
What does Plate (Mural) show?
In Plate upright black shapes follow one another like a row of dancers or columns, and between them bands of colour wind, giving a sense of constant movement from one end to the other. Pollock painted it in 1943, commissioned by Peggy Guggenheim for the entrance hall of her New York house; it was his first truly large painting. The original, now at the University of Iowa’s art museum, is almost two and a half metres high, so Plate is made for long walls.
How is our hand-painted study of Plate (Mural) made?
Our painters paint the study of Plate (Mural) by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of Plate (Mural) has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When Plate (Mural) is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.

For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose Plate (Mural) in 150 × 60 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 130 × 50 cm.
