Joan Miro – Self portrait
Self-Portrait – Joan Miró
Self-Portrait is a painting by Joan Miró: a face drawn in thick black loops, with two eyes and a yellow patch on an olive-green ground. We paint our hand-painted study of Self-Portrait to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 40 × 50 cm to 130 × 160 cm or in a custom size. Before Self-Portrait is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.
What does Self-Portrait show?
Self-Portrait shows large black circles forming the head and eyes, one eye ringed in red, short black hair above and thick black lines below winding around a yellow patch; the background is an olive-green surface covered in tiny drawings. Miró translated his own face into playful signs, which is why Self-Portrait feels cheerful, childlike and mysterious at once.
How is our hand-painted study of Self-Portrait made?
Our painters paint the study of Self-Portrait by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of Self-Portrait has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When Self-Portrait is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.
Which size of Self-Portrait suits your room?
For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose Self-Portrait in 90 × 110 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 40 × 50 cm. Self-Portrait is available in 40 × 50 cm, 50 × 61 cm, 60 × 70 cm, 70 × 85 cm, 80 × 100 cm, 90 × 110 cm, 110 × 130 cm and 130 × 160 cm. A simple rule for Self-Portrait: it should be about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor.
How does Self-Portrait arrive, and when?
We ship Self-Portrait rolled in a sturdy tube, stretched on 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher bars, or framed – you choose when you order. Stretching and framing of Self-Portrait are done in our workshop in Slovenia. When a size of Self-Portrait is in stock, it reaches you within 6 working days; a study of Self-Portrait painted to order reaches you in 15 to 45 days.
