Dreams – suns turning above a tree
Painting on canvas turns whirls of suns across three panels in orange, yellow and white, with a deep blue and red sky stretched between them. A dark tree grows from the lower edge on thin branches that curl into snails at their tips. The stroke is dense enough to suggest a night sky caught mid-movement.
Technique & Texture
The entire surface is painted in short, circling strokes that never come to rest. The suns are built from the outside inward, hoop by hoop, until an almost white dot is left at the centre. The sky is made of overlapping blue, red and violet sweeps that leave the marks of the bristles visible.
The Motif
The left panel holds the largest sun in the red part of the sky, the middle one the tree and the pale blue, the right a group of smaller whirls, one of them green. The branches reach left and right past the edges of the canvases, so the motif carries from field to field. Along the bottom runs dark earth with short red and yellow strokes.
Styling & Placement
It brings a great deal of colour at once, so it belongs on a wall that can carry it alone. As wall art occupying a whole span, it asks for white walls and plain, single-colour furniture: a living room, a child’s room, a playroom.
