Poppy – red flowers on a silver ground
Wall art gathers a single bunch of red poppies across two square canvases. The petals are saturated red and thickly laid, the centres green-yellow with tiny black stamens. The ground stays silver-grey and scattered with pale droplets. One strong colour, and everything else neutral.
Technique & Texture
The flowers are shaped with a palette knife in broad, flat slices; towards the centre the paint is scraped back so the lighter base shows through. The ground is built from flecks and spattered droplets of different sizes. The stems are pulled with a dry brush and stay ragged and greyish.
The Motif
The left canvas holds five open heads at two heights, the right three larger and two smaller along the edge. Green buds rise between them on thin, bent stalks. The red never touches the edge of the canvas, so the flowers float in the grey.
Styling & Placement
As a modern painting it brings exactly one colour accent into an otherwise neutral room, without the furniture having to answer it. A living room, a dining room or an office, beside white walls, grey textiles and pale wood.
- Technique: hand-painted painting on canvas, acrylic, palette knife, scraping and spatter
- Palette: poppy red, silver-grey, white, moss green
- Ideal for: living rooms, dining rooms, offices
- Character: decisive, fresh, emphatic
The red is enough on its own: give it clear wall and pick the size to match.
