Bouquet – yellow poppies in silver light
Painting on canvas lifts yellow poppies across two upright canvases that together make a single bunch. The heads are open and turned in different directions, their centres moss green and serrated. The ground is silver-grey, sown thickly with fine bright droplets. Everything lives off the contrast between the warm yellow and the cold grey.
Technique & Texture
The petals are laid with a palette knife in thick slices that remain visible from the side. Between the yellow and the flower centre the paint is scraped back to the pale base, so each head gains its own bright rim. The stems are pulled downward in long, dark, partly ragged strokes.
The Motif
The left canvas holds four open heads and two buds, the right six flowers in a wider fan. At the foot of both panels the stems gather into a dense, dark sheaf, as though the bunch had been tied. The green buds on thin twigs reach highest and close the silhouette.
Styling & Placement
Yellow in grey reads fresh without pushing. As an abstract painting built from only two notes, it picks no argument with any scheme: a kitchen, a dining room, a working corner or a hallway, beside white walls, grey textiles and pale oak.
- Technique: hand-painted painting on canvas, acrylic, palette-knife application, scraping and spattered ground
- Palette: sun yellow, silver-grey, white, moss green
- Ideal for: kitchens, dining rooms, working corners
- Character: fresh, warm, animated
The diptych wants to be seen close up: fix the hanging height before the size.
The Bouquet painting: yellow poppies on silver-grey, split across two upright canvases
The Bouquet painting comes in 3 portrait sizes, each the total of 2 upright yellow poppy canvases side by side. In the 60 x 90 cm pair each canvas is 30 cm wide and 90 cm tall, in 80 x 120 cm 40 wide and 120 tall, and in 100 x 150 cm 50 wide and 150 tall. Above a 90 cm hallway console, choose 60 x 90 cm; the two larger Bouquet pairs suit a stairwell or a high open wall.
Both canvases with the yellow flowers arrive stretched on wooden stretchers included in the price, without a frame and ready to hang straight away. Hang them side by side with a narrow gap, centre line level, centred over the furniture, so the dark stems at the foot of both panels meet in one bunch. Delivery takes 15–45 days. The Bouquet painting is hand-painted with a palette knife in thick yellow slices, so it is not a print.
