White Light – Jackson Pollock
White Light is a 1954 abstract painting by Jackson Pollock, held by the Museum of Modern Art in New York: a dense web of white trails of paint with grey, yellow and black flecks. We paint our hand-painted study of White Light to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 50 × 60 cm to 150 × 190 cm or in a custom size. What does White Light show?
In White Light a thick, bright net of white and silver-grey trails covers the whole canvas, with yellow, pink, blue and black dots and lines showing through, as if looking into dazzling light. It is one of Pollock’s last works, painted with thick layers and paint squeezed straight from the tube, which is why White Light feels bright, dense and very alive.
How is our hand-painted study of White Light made?
Our painters paint the study of White Light by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of White Light has a real paint texture that a print does not have. In the photograph above you see our finished study of White Light on the easel before it went to the buyer; this is how the hand-applied white web looks on the canvas you receive. When White Light is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.

The 97 × 122 cm size is almost the size of the original: the original of White Light measures 96.9 × 122 cm, so our painting is 1 mm longer on one side and the same on the other. A simple rule for White Light: it should be about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor.
How does White Light arrive, and when?
We ship White Light rolled in a sturdy tube, stretched on 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher bars, or framed – you choose when you order. Stretching and framing of White Light are done in our workshop in Slovenia. When a size of White Light is in stock, it reaches you within 6 working days; a study of White Light painted to order reaches you in 15 to 45 days.
