At the Sea: red sails across five canvases, 170 x 110 cm in total
The painting shows two sailboats with red-orange sails on a dark sea under a grey, cloudy sky. The larger boat sits on the tall 30 x 110 cm middle canvas, and the horizon runs level through all five canvases. Its one size, 170 x 110 cm, is the total of two canvases of 40 x 60 cm, two of 30 x 90 cm and one of 30 x 110 cm, side by side. Choose the At the Sea set for a sofa or sideboard about 250 cm wide, as its 170 cm width is roughly two thirds of that.
Stretchers are included in the price: each of the five canvases arrives on its own wooden stretcher, ready to hang. Hang the middle canvas first, then the other four with equal gaps, keeping the horizon level. The 170 x 110 cm set is delivered in 6 days. Sails, sea and clouds are hand-painted in visible brushstrokes, so it is not a print.
Who is the five-panel At the Sea painting for?
At the Sea is for lovers of the sea and sailing: two sailboats with red-orange sails cross a dark sea under a grey, cloudy sky, and the horizon runs level through all five canvases. The larger boat sits on the tall middle canvas, so the eye stops there first and then slides to the side canvases. The red sails are the only warm colour in the painting, which gives At the Sea tension and freshness at once. It belongs above a sofa or sideboard, or in a living room with a maritime feel.
How is the five-panel At the Sea painted?
At the Sea is hand-painted by our painters as one painting on five canvases of different heights, in visible brushstrokes. The cloudy sky and the dark sea come first, with care that the horizon stays level across every join, then the boats, and last the red-orange sails. Because the waves and clouds are painted by hand, every At the Sea set comes out a little different. We send you a photograph of all five finished canvases to approve, then ship the set.
Stretched and unframed, or framed?
Multi-panel paintings always ship stretched and unframed, so all five canvases of At the Sea are stretched in our workshop in Slovenia on 2.5 cm deep wooden stretchers, included in the price. Without a frame the sea runs to the edges and the horizon carries on from canvas to canvas. If you would like At the Sea framed, we frame each of the five canvases separately on request when you order.
How do I hang the five-panel At the Sea?
Hang the tall 30 x 110 cm middle canvas first, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor, or above a sofa with the bottom edge 20 to 30 cm over the back. Then hang the other four in the order in which the horizon continues, all with an equal gap of 3 to 5 cm, and check with a spirit level that it runs straight. A dry soft cloth is all the care it needs.
Is At the Sea a good gift?
At the Sea is a gift for a sailor, a sea lover or a new home by the coast, and the 170 x 110 cm set is delivered in 6 days. If you are not sure the wall is wide enough, give a gift voucher.
