Description

Sand Planes – architecture in sand tones
Soft-edged architectural planes in sand tones – a large rounded white slab, khaki columns and a small white arch – over terracotta and mint at the bottom: the large rounded white slab commands the centre-left, and a khaki sand column stands upper right beside a white tent at the right edge.
Technique & Texture
A small white arch, door-like, stands at the right middle before an olive-gold band, a slate blue-grey wedge is at the upper left under a black chip in the corner, and greige planes lie at the left middle. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the forms flow into one another without sharp edges, softly.
The Motif
A terracotta-orange block lies at the lower left, and a small sage-mint chip rests in the lower right corner; a white band stretches diagonally across the lower right. A gentle architecture of sand planes, where the arch becomes the painting’s most figurative event.
Styling & Placement
A calm abstract painting for living rooms, bedrooms and offices; the sand tones soothe, the terracotta block warms. Wall art for spaces with a natural, Mediterranean character.

Sandy Planes: upright sizes for every wall
Sandy Planes is an upright painting in 15 sizes, from 40 x 55 to 200 x 279 cm. In a hallway or beside a bed the soft sand-toned planes work at 50 x 69 or 60 x 83 cm. Above a console about 100 cm wide choose 70 x 97 cm, which covers two thirds of its width; an office wall takes 90 x 125 cm, and a tall living-room wall 120 x 167 or 140 x 195 cm.
The first photograph shows Sandy Planes on the wall of a bright room beside an arched window, and the second photograph is a sunlit close-up of the white arch and the terracotta block. Choose YES under Stretcher and Sandy Planes arrives stretched on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang. No frame is included: the Frame menu for Sandy Planes starts at “Without frame”. Delivery takes 15–45 days. The planes are hand-painted and flow into one another without sharp edges, so Sandy Planes is not a print.
Who is the Sandy Planes painting for?
Sandy Planes is for a home with natural materials and warm light: wood, linen, ceramics, plants and white walls. The soft planes in sand, khaki and greige calm the room, and the terracotta block at the lower left warms it. The first photograph shows how the painting comes alive in a bright room beside an arched window, which is why it belongs in a living room, bedroom or office with a Mediterranean feel. The upright format also places Sandy Planes on the wall beside a bed or above a console.
How is the Sandy Planes painting made?
Sandy Planes is hand-painted by our painters. They lay the planes in broad strokes and blur them softly where they meet, so they flow into one another without sharp edges. The white arch, the terracotta block and the small mint chip go on once the ground is dry. The second photograph shows the white arch and the terracotta block close up in sunlight, where you can see the soft surface of the paint. When it is finished, we send you a photograph of the painting to approve, and only then do we ship it.
Rolled, stretched or framed?
We ship Sandy Planes the way you choose: rolled, stretched on a 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher, or framed. Sandy Planes is stretched and framed in our workshop in Slovenia. Stretched, it arrives ready to hang; rolled helps with the large sizes or when a framer near you will frame it. A light wooden frame goes with the sand tones, and without a frame the planes run to the edges of the canvas.
How should I hang and care for it?
Keep the centre of Sandy Planes at eye level, about 150 cm from the floor; above a console or bed, the bottom edge sits 20 to 30 cm over the top or the headboard. The warm tones come out in daylight, so a wall beside a window is a good choice, as long as it is not in direct sun all day. Wipe off dust with a dry soft cloth, without water or cleaners.
Is Sandy Planes a good gift?
For a new home or a holiday house, Sandy Planes is a calm gift; 50 x 69 and 60 x 83 cm fit a hallway or the space beside a bed. If you do not know the wall for Sandy Planes, give a gift voucher.
