Description
Calla Lilies II – White Callas on a Silver-Gold Ground
An elegant floral still life: two white calla lilies on tall dark wiry stems stand before a heavily textured silver-gold ground. The upper, larger one opens its trumpet-shaped bloom downward to the left, revealing an orange-red spadix; the lower, smaller one, left of centre, opens to the left with its spadix pointing upward.
Technique & Texture
The ground is laid on like plaster: silver-white and grey masses with ochre-gold patches, while the right third carries a dense lace-like relief of silver over dark. It is a hand-painted artistic painting – the angular, paper-white petals are shaded with greys no print can reproduce.
The Motif
The stems wind and cross, accompanied at their base by thin blades of grass, while between them at the bottom rests a small gold block. The lower band is darker, with root-like scratches – the callas grow from earth, not from emptiness.
Styling & Placement
Classic elegance in a contemporary guise – wall art for living rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms; the silver-gold ground pairs beautifully with warm and cool interiors alike.

Callas II: size, stretcher and frame
Callas II is painted in 12 upright sizes, from 50 x 60 to 180 x 215 cm. Two white callas on a silver-gold ground belong on narrower walls: 50 x 60 or 60 x 72 cm beside a door or in an alcove, 70 x 90 cm next to a tall cabinet, and 80 x 95 cm above a 120 cm console, two thirds of its width. A high stairwell wall takes 110 x 130 or 120 x 145 cm.
In the photograph Callas II stands on an easel in our workshop among moulding samples, in an optional pale silver-gold frame. The Frame menu for Callas II defaults to Without frame. Choose YES under Stretcher and the calla canvas arrives stretched on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang. Delivery of Callas II takes 15–45 days. The angular white petals were shaded by hand: this painting is hand-painted on canvas, not a print.
Is Callas II the right calla lily painting for a living room or bedroom?
Yes, Callas II is an elegant floral still life with two white calla lilies on tall dark stems before a heavily textured silver-gold ground; each calla opens a trumpet-shaped bloom with an orange-red spadix. Silver and gold go with warm and cool interiors alike, so Callas II belongs in a living room, a bedroom, a dining room or on a narrow wall beside a door.
How is Callas II painted by hand?
Callas II is hand-painted by our painters: the ground goes on like plaster in silver-white and grey masses with ochre-gold patches, the right third is covered in a dense, lace-like silver relief, and the angular paper-white petals are shaded with greys. The photograph on the page shows Callas II on an easel among moulding samples, in a pale silver-gold frame you can choose. When Callas II is finished, we send you a photograph of it to approve, then ship it.
How does Callas II arrive: rolled, stretched or framed?
We ship Callas II the way you choose: rolled, stretched on a 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher, or framed. Callas II is stretched and framed in our workshop in Slovenia. The silver-gold frame in the photograph repeats the colours of the ground, while the stretched canvas without a frame looks more modern; rolled is practical for sizes up to 180 x 215 cm.
How should I hang and care for Callas II?
Keep the upper, larger calla of Callas II at roughly eye level, about 150 cm from the floor. Side light brings out the lace-like silver relief and the sheen of the gold. Clean the relief of Callas II with a soft dry brush, without water or cleaners.
Is the calla lily painting Callas II a good gift?
Callas II is an elegant gift for a wedding, an anniversary or a housewarming, for anyone who loves white flowers and calla lilies; 50 x 60 cm also fits an alcove or the wall beside a door. If you are not sure which size of Callas II is right, give a gift voucher.
