Description

Golden Stripe – two curtains and a heavy golden band
Three registers of vertical strands: the upper third is held by a white field combed into fine vertical grey stripes – a pale curtain – and across the middle of the canvas, slightly above the halfway line, a heavy golden stripe of grainy leaf gold cuts the whole format.
Technique & Texture
The stripe is thickest left of centre, and its upper and lower edges are torn, as if ripped from rock. This is a hand-painted work of art – the gold is laid on in relief and truly ignites in side light.
The Motif
The lower half is the second curtain: a vertically striped field that starts silver grey-white just beneath the gold and gradually warms downward into ochre and gold-brown, most golden at the bottom edge – a sediment carrying the stripe’s warmth toward the ground.
Styling & Placement
An elegant decorative painting for living rooms, dining rooms and reception areas; the mineral structure and the golden band feel luxurious without a single figure – wall art that pairs beautifully with stone, wood and brass.
