Description
Galaxy 2 – a mist over blue depth
Wall art clears a pale blue-green mist across the top of an upright canvas, sets a dark band with a glowing rust core beneath it and lets deep cobalt take the foot: modern painting arranged as a look into a night sky at the moment the cloud opens.
Technique and texture
The upper part was painted wet into wet, in thin spilled layers that run into one another without an edge anywhere. Toward the middle the load turns dense and grainy, the strokes short and chopped with the blade still visible in them. The blue at the foot is wide and swept, carried across the whole width in one long pass.
The motif
Pale mint and blue-green mists make the top, with single white clearings in them. Below sits a dark brown to near-black band, and a rust-orange and brick core opens inside it — the brightest point in the picture. The lower third is deep cobalt and ultramarine cut by a few lighter runs, and at the very bottom it goes to black.
Setting and placement
Hang this one high enough that the rust core sits above a seated eye, since that is the point the whole picture is built around. Hang this one a little higher than usual so the dark foot does not fall into the shadow of the furniture.
