Golden Peaks – a city in the mist
A wide silver-grey mist with a central row of gold peaks rising and falling like a city skyline: a broken horizontal chain of gold clusters runs through the middle, each cluster a jagged flame or peak, and between them rise smoky spires.
Technique & Texture
Above each gold cluster a taupe-umber smoky spire climbs toward the top, tallest right of centre and at the far left, while below the chain vertical drip trails descend into the pale ground. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the golden tongues are laid from gold leaf and light up in raking light.
The Motif
The upper and lower bands stay calm, silver-grey with barely visible blue hints – a mist from which a golden city grows. The peaks sit in a band at mid-height, with smoke above and drips below.
