The Rose – Salvador Dalí
The Rose is a painting by Salvador Dalí from 1958: a large red rose floating in a blue sky above a wide, dark plain. We paint our hand-painted study of The Rose to order on canvas, in oil or acrylic, in 8 sizes from 28 × 36 cm to 150 × 190 cm or in a custom size. Before The Rose is dispatched, we send you a photo of the finished painting.
What does The Rose show?
In The Rose a fully opened red bloom without a stem hangs high in a deep blue sky with a soft white cloud, and below it stretches a dark plain where two tiny figures stand. With the huge, calmly floating rose Dalí made an image of beauty and love rising above the weight of the world, so The Rose feels quiet, tender and almost meditative.
How is our hand-painted study of The Rose made?
Our painters paint the study of The Rose by hand, with brushstrokes of different thickness, separately for every order. We paint in oil or acrylic, depending on the subject and the size, so the surface of The Rose has a real paint texture that a print does not have. When The Rose is finished, we photograph it and send you the photo for approval.
Which size of The Rose suits your room?
For the wall above a sofa or a sideboard choose The Rose in 80 × 100 cm, and for a bedroom, hallway or work corner 28 × 36 cm. The Rose is available in 28 × 36 cm, 50 × 60 cm, 60 × 80 cm, 70 × 90 cm, 80 × 100 cm, 90 × 120 cm, 120 × 150 cm and 150 × 190 cm. The 28 × 36 cm size of The Rose is the size of the original. A simple rule for The Rose: it should be about two thirds as wide as the furniture below it, with its centre about 150 cm from the floor.
How does The Rose arrive, and when?
We ship The Rose rolled in a sturdy tube, stretched on 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher bars, or framed – you choose when you order. Stretching and framing of The Rose are done in our workshop in Slovenia. When a size of The Rose is in stock, it reaches you within 6 working days; a study of The Rose painted to order reaches you in 15 to 45 days.
