Description

Broken Lines – a lattice that leaves windows for the light
Thick chocolate-black strokes cross the canvas into a broken lattice: two near-horizontal bars across the top, a massive diagonal bundle from the left middle to the upper right corner, steep diagonals cutting it into a ladder at the centre, and vertical bars closing the right side and the lower left.
Technique & Texture
The dark actually dominates – it covers about sixty percent – and the white is the openings: small triangles caught between the diagonals, and rectangular windows between the bars. This is a hand-painted art painting – the surface of the strokes is glossy-mottled like wet slate, the edges rough.
The Motif
The lattice is not regular: the bars break, the angles do not meet, and the light finds its way through every gap. It is precisely this break that gives the title its sense and the painting its rhythm.
Styling & Placement
A graphic art painting for offices, hallways and modern living rooms; the black-and-white structure suits any furnishing, and the lattice gives the wall an architecture – wall art with a bold geometry.
